If you were to be asked your home address, you would be able to provide it without thinking twice. Your address on earth is the place where you receive mail and deliveries. Maintaining your home is a part of your daily routine. What about where you live on the internet? Do you know where you reside there?
As a member of the Houston Association of REALTORS, you have an address on the internet - a website address, just as you do a home address. Your HAR website address provides you with advertising features. All real estate listings are available for visitors to view in an IDX (Internet Data Exchange) view - viewers can searchlistings with you as the presenter. The listing agent is not visible. Email communication is sent directly to you. The Consumer Tools provide priceless statistical information about recent sales, filters for properties on golf courses and in high rise condos - and much much more.
If you don't know where you live on the internet, you are not providing yourself or your clients with the latest technologies available. If your HAR webpage has been created, it is easy to find. First, log in at HAR.com with your public and private ID. Select the "My" link on the left navigation bar. Select the "Member Website" link. Your HAR website address will be listed at the bottom center of the page. (Example: http://www.har.com/yourname)
If your website has not been set up, you will see a grey button to create your website. Add your name at the end of http://www.har.com/ and select the Next button. Fill out the necessary information in the next window to complete your web page.
What do people have to say about you? Check to see if you are listed on the internet. Blogs (web log) have become a very popular way for people (bloggers) to share their thoughts. Articles in magazines and newspapers are published on the internet. Use a search engine and type your name in the search field to see if you get a result. Narrow your search to get a more concise result (Example: susan smith houston texas). If you would like to start your own blog, you can sign up for a free website.
